This week's TUNESday is from Scottish alt rock group Twin Atlantic. The single "Hold On" can be heard in the video below, and downloaded from iTunes HERE.

TUNESday: "Back Home" by Andy Grammer

This past week I signed up for a Spotify account and created a playlist to gather all of the TUNESday songs that collect week by week. Check it out by looking up the NOLArunner account or clicking HERE.

TUNESday: "Undone" by The Bird and The Bee

A really cool thing about movie soundtracks is that they sometimes uncover artists that would otherwise not get mainstream attention. This week's featured TUNESday song was inspired by a movie I saw a couple weeks ago, yet shall remain unnamed on this family friendly blog. Let's just say Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel left little to the imagination during the movie.

TUNESday: "Bang Bang" by Jessie, Ariana, & Nicki

Each of the artists featured in today's TUNESday song have been on these pages before, but today they've teamed up for one super collaboration. For the past two weeks, Jessie J., Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj have been teasing fans with 'Bang Bang' snippets, but this morning the full song is finally here!

TUNESday: "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit

When it comes to music appropriate for a workout playlist, my opinion is that Europeans are light years ahead of the rest of the world. It helps that they have been on the forefront of the electronic / dance movement, which just started getting mainstream attention in the states a few years ago.

TUNESday: "Break Free" by Ariana Grande

I'll admit I was one of those 30-somethings that got excited over the return of the "Boy Meets World" series with the Disney Channel's "Girl Meets World" reboot. Before last week, I didn't know what channel the network controlled. However, it was appointment viewing on my DVR, and I've now seen two episodes of the new series. At the risk of sounding like my parents, I must say they sure don't make 'em like they used to.

TUNESday: "Of the Night" by Bastille

This isn't the first time British boy band BΔSTILLE has shown up on TUNESday. The last time was when they broke on to American charts with "Pompeii," the iconic chant driven hit that was voted one of the best songs of 2013. This time, they're poised to take over the charts with a mash-up of two songs that already conquered the 90's airwaves.

TUNESday: "Like a Drum" by Guy Sebastian

This week's TUNESday music selection is by the first winner of Australian Idol in 2003, Guy Sebastian. It's amazing with all of the success he's had, he has yet to cross over to the American pop charts. With seven top ten albums and two number one singles on his resume, that's sure to change soon.

TUNESday: "Lay Me Down" by Avicii

A perk of getting back in to marathon shape is getting back in to a wardrobe that hasn't fit in months. I literally have an entire section of my closet filled with attire waiting to be welcomed back in rotation. However, that doesn't keep me from rewarding myself with the addition of new items that catch my eye. It's little things like a new fitted shirt that keep me motivated to train and put in the work.

TUNESday: "Lost You" by Zeds Dead

Fun fact: I work within earshot of a professional choreographer and dancer. As a super fit person and really clean eater, she's been a great sounding board for thoughts on nutrition and strength training; however, none of her dance skills have rubbed off on her coworker. I've been labeled a lost cause.

TUNESday: "Calling All Hearts" by DJ Cassidy

Once again it's time for a TUNESday music feature, and this week's selection continues the trend of DJ's going mainstream. They're stepping out of the booth and taking center stage, crossing over from re-mixing hits of pop artists and transforming into acts capable of putting out an album full of their own hits. With the recent success of Calvin Harris, Tiësto, and others, it's a trend that I'm sure will continue.

TUNESday: "Under The Lights" by Cassio Monroe

I've been spending more time in the gym lately, trying to up my weight training and regularly swimming. While I usually do my best to get in and get out as quickly as possible, I can honestly say that the venue has become one of the most interesting places for me to people-watch.

TUNESday: "Love Runs Out" by OneRepublic

The return from the long holiday weekend brought runners yet ANOTHER announcement from runDisney. A long anticipated Star Wars Half Marathon was confirmed for January 15-18, 2015 in Disneyland of Anaheim, California. It certainly isn't schedule for a time long ago or in a galaxy far, far away.

TUNESday: "Boom Clap" by Charli XCX

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a special advance screening of the movie "The Fault in Our Stars." Based on a novel published in 2012, the story explores the relationship between two teenage cancer patients as they come to terms with love and their own vulnerability.

TUNESday: "BodyPump 89" by Various Artists

My TUNESday post is delayed by a day this week, and for the first time it was intentional tardiness. I wanted to wait until after going to the gym during yesterday's lunch. As I alluded to in a previous post, I've mixed up my routine lately and incorporated swimming and weights  with my running schedule. Yesterday was one of those weight days, and am really liking the workout I've selected.

TUNESday: "I Want It All" by Karmin

Last week, the New Orleans Track Club posed a question on its Facebook page asking followers what types of technology have helped them "advance and stay motivated" during their training. It's a great question that shows how digital applications can enhance a sport that used to be as simple as lacing up a pair of shoes and walking outside.

TUNESday: "Sleeping With a Friend" by Neon Trees

I'm putting together my "May Preview" for later in the week, and I'm unable to remember this many races in years prior. Looking ahead to the next 4 weekends has me really excited for a bunch of these upcoming events. Be on the lookout for the complete rundown coming this Thursday morning!

TUNESday: "Summer" by Calvin Harris

It's been a great few days in the running community both here in NOLA and around the world. Last week was the one year anniversary of the bombings at the Boston Marathon finish line, and the outpouring of international support was unbelievable. Hours of live coverage on ESPN broadcast to the world events surrounding the memorial, and highlighted the heroes that emerged as a result of the tragedy.

TUNESday: "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the bombings at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The memory of sitting in my office watching in horror as the scene unfolded still feels so fresh, and 365 days later I still can not make sense of the day's events.

TUNESday: "Red Lights" by Tiësto

Is anyone else feeling the funk brought on by spring weather and all the pollen in the air? My allergies are going haywire. While I start my day feeling great, it slowly devolves in to me becoming a scratchy eyed, sore throated mess. I'm not much for taking medications, over the counter or otherwise, so I'm doing my best to suffer through the blooming seasons.
